Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. All compression happens directly in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.

What image formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG, and WebP are supported for compression. Other formats like GIF or SVG are not supported.

What quality setting should I use?

For most web images, 70–85% quality gives an excellent balance of size reduction and visual quality. For photos, 80% is a good starting point.

Why does the compressed file sometimes not get smaller?

If your image is already highly optimized, further compression may not reduce the size significantly. In this case, the tool returns the original to avoid delivering a larger file.

Can I compress multiple images at once?

The current tool processes one image at a time. For bulk compression, check out the Bulk Image Compressor tool.
